the first image is taken with an Optio S5z using the Pentax PF-CA1 digiscoping adapter on a Pentax PF-100ED spotting scope with an XW14 occular. the equivalent FOV is roughly that of a 3000mm lens.

the remaining 3 were taken using the *istD, DA 16-45, and a Tiffen 87C IR filter. i had to guess at zone focusing as there is no IR mark on the lens.

all have been converted to grayscale JPG. the IR originals aren't as contrasty so i darkened them by reducing the gamma. the *istD seems to have a funny IR response with very long exposures as there was some severe banding in one channel on the lowest part of the image. desaturating at RAW conversion time seems to fix that.
