That's lovely, Tom!
We drove the length of the highway in 1992 in mid
JUne Stayed
at McClaren Lake Lodge - at the time, certainly,
Lodge was a bit of
delusion of grandure. a tumbledown place where
they turn the generator off at night but the
people were a delight.

We drove from west to east. The weather permitted
great views of the range and afforded the clearest
view of Denali we saw on the trip, though not as
interesting to photo as a result.. that classic
postcard look. there had been small quakes
near Anchorage and Mt Redout was about ot go
"poof" again. We had been in
Anchorage and were not on the long drive home.
The lake on MT Redout turned from
blue to black as a warning. We were well off the
highway when the ash drifted
over the range - a day or two later, I think.

Thanks for the jogging of memories :)
Maybe we should chat off list about our adventures
on that highway -- ooops!
but you dont' know how to do that, do you?

ann ducks once again
