MX Focusing Screen

Hi,I am new and this is probably an old question.
My MX focusing screen is dirty,especially on the split bit.I have ordered another
one which is an LX screen,it is reportedly brighter,will it affect my metering?

What is the best way to clean the focussing screen?
I have only used canned air so far.
