It seems your chosen film may be of the slow (ISO 100) type. Faster film 
works, and whether slide or print, faster films have improved so much in the 
past three years the old arguments against them no longer hold true.
+PENTAX made some fabulous slow, constant aperture super-telephoto lenses. So 
did (does) Tamron in their plain adapt-all lenses. With ISO or faster film, 
you could be right in the ballpark.
