Heh.

He shoots motorcycle racing...he got into it as a sideline, and now its
becoming more profitable than his day job, which, by the way, is not
photographic. He got into it because he's a bike race fan and
occassional rider, and because he knows what kind of shots the riders
and their sponsors are after.

He has no formal photographic education. He shoots with his F80 (which
replaced a used 90x, because of the 80's better AF), on aperture
priority (usually f5.6 or so to throw the background out of focus),
using colour neg film. He had a Sigma 70-300 which he has replaced with
the Nikon VR 80-400, which has certainly eliminated shake from his images.

His work is routinely excellent. He knows bikes, which is far more
important in this shooting situation than knowing diddley about
exposure, especially when the camera does such a fine job of looking
after it for him. The 20x30s I've made for him go from good to stunning.

He's a pro as much as any good wedding shooter or general event shooter
or product shooter is a pro.
