Many agreed that the 1.7 is sharper than the 1.4 at/near wide open,
including me (except I think the f1.4 is too soft to be useful at wide
open). But then the A50/1.4 was built a lot better than the A1.7 anf 2
versions (excluding M series of course) so it is still a good buy.
