I think it was Mark Cassino who once wrote here that the A2X-L is very good wrt image degradation on his A*400/2.8, but it exhibits an odd sort of bokeh compared to the 1.4-L. Personally I find myself using the 1.7 AF adapter with that lens much more often that the 2X. YMMV, Stephen
