Actually, the Z-1p was intended as an EOS-1 competitor but Pentax chickened out and dumbed it down. Originally it was weather sealed in a much sturdier body. Also the FA* lenses were designed weather sealed. Apparently, the reason for chickening out was that Pentax feared too many reclamations from folks treating them as underwater cameras!
