Yes, and it's been designed specifically for the *ist D with the appropriate offset to ensure that the lens axis lines up with the centre of rotation. I leave it attached to the camera mostly, it provides a good extra handle and since it has two QR shoes a very quick method to swap from horizontal to vertical format without altering any tripod settings, the slide is optional (it has a QR top and bottom too).
