I bought the Funkey Cam for my daughter for her third birthday.  She
loves it!  She usually won't leave the house without it.  She's a bit
young to understand exposure, film advance, etc., so I went with
point-and-shoot digital.  I don't see why a five year old wouldn't be
able to understand some basics of composition.  Go for it.  She'll
probably love it.
