I ended up with an FA50/1.4 because of what i had read on list about it's performance compared to the 43. It's also faster glass which I like. The FA35/2 seems about as good optically as the 31, though the 31 seems to have nicer bokeh. Whether this makes it worth about a thousand dollars extra is debatable. I didn't go for an FA *85/1.4, again because of onlist comments, I waited until i found a nice A*85/1.4 and bought it. It is way bigger than the 77, faster, and overall seems like a nicer optic. The 77 is no slouch, howerer, and is probably a much better value, considering what I ended up paying for the 85.
