I ended up with an FA50/1.4 because of what i had read on list about it's 
performance compared to the 43. It's also faster glass which I like.
The FA35/2 seems about as good optically as the 31, though the 31 seems to 
have nicer bokeh. Whether this makes it worth about a thousand dollars extra 
is debatable.
I didn't go for an FA *85/1.4, again because of onlist comments, I waited 
until i found a nice A*85/1.4 and bought it.
It is way bigger than the 77, faster, and overall seems like a nicer optic. 
The 77 is no slouch, howerer, and is probably a much better value, 
considering what I ended up paying for the 85.
