Since a large number of my shots are taken at shutter speeds below
1/75th of a sec., (x-sync).  I would consider the camera to be battery 
dependant
however the batteries last a very long time in normal use and are
not nearly as expensive as those required for MZ/ZX series cameras.

Since the shutter speeds from 1/75 sec. to 1/1000 sec., (oh yes and 'B'), are
mechanical, if the batteries do fail at least you're not left high and dry.
