I dunno. When I met Bob, he seemed a perfectly friendly if irascible  
old coot.

One of my professors at UCSC down the street from him in Bonny  
Doon ... He walked over one afternoon when we were drinking about  
Summer 1981 and helped himself to a few shots and about four hours of  
conversation. He studied Math and Physics at UCLA, I was studying  
Math at UCSC. We got on well, he told lots of stories. After that I  
saw him occasionally until about 1984, when I left Santa Cruz. Never  
did find out what happened to the end of "Podkayne Of Mars", though.

He'd certainly smack you for using his line as a sig... ;-)
