I thought it was second generation.  Still Tamron kept improving it 
after the Pentax badged version was released.  There's a FA 28-200 new 
old stock in a local Camera Store.  I think they want something around 
$299.00 for it.  I never liked mine on film but on digital it's, I want 
to say not bad, but really it's very good.  (At $299 it's not a bad lens 
at all).
