Try rotating the ISO dial from stop to stop a couple of dozen times, 
then take the lens off and move the aperture simulator lever from stop 
to stop a couple of dozen times as well.
That at least takes care of the user servicable stuff.
Pentax Canada should still be supporting the LX fairly well. If they 
don't, Frank mentioned Kominek's as being good, and Precision Camera in 
Winnipeg has done good work for me in the past.
