Twenty years ago, Pentax was a company with brand recognition as well. They let things slide for too long, and now there is an entire generation of buyers who have never heard of them. OTOH, if one is interested in cheap 3rd partly lenses instead of the ones supplied by the manufacturer, it really doesn't matter what brand of camera body you use.
