It's not bad Peter. But IMO the 2 sec delay is not enough. I was watching to
moon through the viewfinder as I did my moon shot with the 12 sec delay.
The lens and tripod did move noticably for 6-8 secs after I pressed the
shutter. I'm sure this alone will increase the sharpness.

With other people posting their moon captures I decided to give it a try
too, having a.) A lens/converter combination I'd never tried for this.
b.) A crystal clear night sky for a change. c.) A certain lack of
imagination, (I hope it was only because I was tired). So here's my
attempt. I have to say I expected a lack of contrast with the
combination I used, but I'm also a bit disappointed with how sharp the
details were recorded. I suppose I can blame my crappy tripod for
now,.until I have a better one to test with. Still, here it is.

Technical Info:
Pentax *ist-Ds ISO 200 @ 1/40sec (Av) Spot
vmc Vivitar Solid Cat 600mm f8 with smc Pentax 1.7x converter @ ~f14

Notes: Shot with 2sec. delay with mirror prefire. This is the center
1600x1600mp of the frame. I used curves to bring up the mid tones a
bit, impart a bit of an s curve response and then seriously enhanced the
contrast, in Photoshop. Then resized to 800x800 for web display.
