As was already said, matrix metering does not require automatic apreture,
but electric contacts that inform body about minimum aperture of the lens.
There is not any chip in A lenses, contacts are made of metal
bayonet and some insulated pieces. If you are brave enough,
you can make your old lenses "matrix metering compatible",
e.g. with drill ... (look at www.bdimitrov.de for contact patterns).
