Just got off the phone with Don. He had his stem cell transplant this morning, and reports that the doctors are thrilled with the success. Now the stem cells are expected to make their way to the marrow and begin the process of producing new, good, blood.
If this works, the recovery process is still lengthy. If it doesn't, the whole process starts anew, with another harvest of stem cells, more chemo/radiation etc. He is in good spirits, and thanks all for the well wishes.
