It doesn't really convey autumn to me, I'm afraid. The essence of autumn, surely, is mellow fruitfulness and plenty, but the picture is dominated by empty stalks. The few fruits there are serve only to emphasise the absence of fruits on the other stalks. The blank background ditto.
