The whole story is unfortunate. It's good that you got your package,
though. Maybe you should gripe to UPS about the crappy service. They
will sometimes refund your shipping expenses.

I had a similar experience with FedEx. On a Thursday morning I
discovered that I needed a part for the car. After calling a few
repair places and auto parts stores (no one had it) I decided to
overnight it from a place out of state. They shipped FedEx. Since I
needed the car running for the weekend, I called off work on Friday to
wait for my part to arrive. At 3:30pm the FedEx tracking site said
they had attempted a delivery but I wasn't home. After spending a
couple seconds trying to figure out where I went while I was at home
all day I called FedEx to gripe. The operator insisted that there was
nothing she could do and that the package would be delivered on Monday
and no I could not pick it up before then. If I wanted to pick it up
I could do that Monday morning. So I asked for a supervisor. At this
point it occurred to me to mention that the driver did not leave a tag
on my door. "Hold please." Several minutes later: "He'll be there
within thirty minutes."

That guy had to be the maddest FedEx driver I've ever seen. He
demanded a signature and driver's license before handing over the
package (which really consisted of tossing it in my general
direction).

They're all the same. They all suck. But I'll still deal with FedEx
and UPS before I ship through the USPS. I'll go somewhere else
entirely before I'll buy from a merchant who ships with DHL, though.
