Thanks, Mike.  I forgot about the TTL setting; I was only using the 
auto-low and auto-high settings.  And you're right - it doesn't work in 
TTL. I end up with a fixed aperture of f/5.6, and no flash cutoff at all.

I don't use flash much (yet), so this little unit has been ideal.  And 
at AU$20 it was a steal.

I note though that AF360 units are starting to appear at reasonable 
prices, so I might enable myself with something better in the new year.
