No you don't, the camera remembers exposure compensation settings on start up.

When I said yesterday you should try one of the newer cameras, I
wasn't being argumentative, it was a genuine suggestion to help in
your understanding on how new SLR's / DSRL's operate.

Reading the manual will only educate you so much. Using one will round
out that education.
