Welcome aboard.  Just ignore the occasional flame war, it's a great list.

I do not have the new DA 40mm lens, but can point you to these test
shots I did with the DA 16-45 mm zoom at 45 mm.  They compare shots at
1/8th second and F4, with and without shake reduction.  I'd say 1/8th
second is do-able, maybe even 1/4th with the smaller 40 mm.  The zoom
used here is a 3 inch long lens and will be subject to more shake than
the smaller 40 mm.
