I do not have the new DA 40mm lens, but can point you to these test shots I did with the DA 16-45 mm zoom at 45 mm. They compare shots at 1/8th second and F4, with and without shake reduction. I'd say 1/8th second is do-able, maybe even 1/4th with the smaller 40 mm.
