I've offered myself the greatest christmas present ever: no christmas
this year!

Happy holidays to all of you.

About 20 years ago my wife and I knew an elderly couple in our village.
Around Christmas they told us that the Christmas gift they were giving
each other was the day off--no pressure, no expectations, no presents,
do whatever they want with the day.

I used to find this time of year just too stressful. Then a few years
ago I stopped sending out Christmas cards. I decline nearly all
invitations around this time of year. We stopped having a Christmas
party at our house. We no longer go caroling. I haven't put up
decorations in three years. And the season is much less stressful and
much more enjoyable. (This is just me. I have a very busy life all year
round, so traditional Christmas activities on top is just too much. I'll
probably work on Christmas and New Years days [at my home office], as I
do most holidays.) If I have time I'll try to get in a day of shooting
migratory waterfowl with Big Bertha (F* 600 F4) and the K10D.

I am in Arizona. I was going to drive home to New Mexico today but it is
snowing there so hard that the interstate highway was closed. Perhaps
tomorrow.

Enjoy yourself, Ralf.

Joe
