The E-1 is really an excellent camera; I believe it to be one of the
classic digital SLRs, well-designed and really easy and effective to
use. It's a shame Olympus haven't produced anything but
consumer-grade cameras since then - if they'd even have put the 8mp or
10mp sensors out of those in the E-1's body, it'd have been better
than the situation pro-level shooters who chose the E-1 have been left
in. Olympus has been promising a new pro-grade camera for years, but
it never seems to happen. I'm frankly not sure why. The really
bizarre thing is that they've kept on coming out with extremely
expensive and well-made f/2.0 zooms, without a new camera to put them
on.
