All I can say is dual monitors :-)

Ctrl (cmd)+alt+~(tilde) will select the highlights. It you then want
to select the shadows hit Ctrl (cmd)+shift+I. Ctrl (cmd)+D to deselect
a selection

Very hand for making quick adjustment layer masks.
