Some researchers at Carnegie-Mellon University (ones working in California, not the main campus around the corner from me in Pittsburgh, but it made the local paper anyway) have built a "robot" that holds the camera and automatically pans/tilts it between shots. What's more, it sounds as if they're going to get it to market and are expecting a retail price of around $200.00 (not including the camera).
