I don't know if that was the car that ended up in your neighbourhood,
but the 1,000,000th Minor off the production line certainly did have
"1,000,000" in those chrome letters rather than the customary "1,000".

I believe this was only the second car model to achieve 1,000,000 units.
The first, of course, was the (original) VW Beetle.
