So, for example, if the paper says 1225 nM concentration, I have to  
know the molecular mass of the substance to know how many mg/L that  
converts to?  That seems awfully complicated to me.

I'm not a chemist!!!!  I'm just trying to figure out what these guys  
are saying in units that mean something to me.
