I haven't used the 14/2.8, but the DA 12-24 is quite good and substantially wider. It's the difference between 18 and 21mm fov in 35mm parlance. If you need the speed, the 14/2.8 is probably the way to go. If not, the 12-24 performs very well, particularly at f5.6 on up, and it's decent at f4.
