No idea ... I looked too and can't find anything that refers to that directory. I deleted it and saved 400K (from a little test gallery I made with 12 images), can't see any difference in operation of the gallery. Might simply be cruft from another implementation of the gallery generator. OR used in another HTML template that I'm not using.
