Don't knock it until you've tried it. The dogs love this sort of stuff.
We used to do puissance (doggie high jumping) with our guys. one of the 
things we always did was some stretching exercises and yoga to limber them 
up.
It's good for the dogs, it's good for their handlers and its a good 
relationship builder as well

Dogs that are used to being handled a lot tend to be happier and more even 
tempered, and are far less likely to bite, either their owners or anyone 
else.

Dogs really don't have the attributes that you are trying to give them. 
Dignity isn't really a dog thing.
