From all I've read, the Pentax 50/1.4 lens underwent a small recompute for the A-series that significantly improved performance at the larger aperture settings (f/1.4 to f/2.8). The 50/1.4 optics remain identical through the A, F and FA series mounts. My A50/1.4 performed identically to my FA50/1.4, so far as I can tell that part is true.
