Last week, I was at a dog show. Me and my boy made it as far as the Best in Breed ring, where we were eliminated. The spectators, including some very knowledgable breeders and a few pro handlers told me that the dog that beat mine was not as good a dog, but that I had clearly been outhandled by a professional handler. The lady who beat me for breed was very gracious when I congratulated her. She mentioned that she had some 30 years of experience handling dogs, and this experience makes her handling second nature for her, and put her in the winners ring more often than not. In fact, she showed to Best in Show in all three trials that weekend. Long experience counts for a lot more than you care to give credit to. Experience isn't what you know, it is how you do things.
