That's very curious. Why do you hate the IR remote so much? I use both. The IR remote is very handy when I'm in the field moving the tripod and camera around ... one less dangly bit to get in the way and cause a problem. On the other hnd, if the camera didn't have the rear IR sensor, it wouldn't bother me at all to use just the wired remote.
