I've twice had to remove the entire lensmount from the camera when one of these has become stuck. The third party ones don't seem to be machined to the same tolerances as the Pentax ones. The Pentax one is easy to attach - a snug fit not a tight one. If you have been given one of the third party adapters then give it a try and see how hard it is to attach as it may be fine (sample variation). If you're planning to buy one just go get the OEM Pentax adapter.
