Get yourself the old standby, a Cannonette GIII 1.7. You will probably have to refoam the back, not a hard job. For $50 or so you can find out if you like rangefinder cameras, I love them. Or if you are willing to spend that thousand get a Leica M3, in some ways they are nicer than the new ones. Cesar has one that is very nice, I wanted to walk off with it <grin>. I would start with a fast 35-40mm lens, as they lend themselves to close in quick and dirty photography, the place where RF's rule.
The only warning I can give is do not try to use it like a SLR, you will hate it if you do. They are another kind of beast altogether. -- graywolf http://www.graywolfphoto.com http://webpages.charter.net/graywolf "Idiot Proof" <==> "Expert Proof" ----------------------------------- Thibouille wrote: > Well I'm much tempted by interchangeable lens RF. > But I also know I won't but any 1000 dollars camera just to try if I > like it or not. > > So, basicaly anything good to play a bit would do it.
