Ouch. Hope things go well, Bob. I need to get the 12" SCT aligned, if even for wide-field shots.
Several lessons learned from buying an SCT, all obvious but even more true than I imagined: 1. The time of year it's good weather for observing is also the time of year it doesn't get dark until very late in the evening. 2. About the time one really needs to start thinking in order to operate the scope and take photos because it's nice and dark is also about the time the mind starts to say "nighty-night'. 3. Relaxing with several glasses of wine early in the evening is not conducive to getting one's butt up around 10:30 PM and working on a technical subject.
