That's a good use for sometnhing I've yet to find a use for, I normally lock 
focus with the shutter release and recompose or switch to manual focus. But I 
can see how that method would be advantageous speed wise

I always end up inadvertantly moving the focus point to something completely 
useless just when I need it to centred and spontaneous!
