Your point only makes full sense if Pentax never produces a FF
DSLR body, if they do then the lenses with extra coverage (FF) would
be better if marked as such rather than the somewhat vague DA
designations.

Right. PRIMARY feature and function of DA lenses (incuding DA40 and 
DA70) is an optimal performance with digital bodies. Everything else 
doesn't matter.
