Those rings seem to be bolted on pretty strong, but you (or Martino's)
could be right.

Bottom line is, despite what certain lock manufacturers say, no bike
is 100% safe.  All locks and other such devices to is act as a
deterrent, nothing more.  The better the lock/system is, the longer it
will take a thief to steal the bike.  Therefore, if a less secure bike
is handy, they'll always go for that one, and leave your bike alone.
