I was on a weeklong workshop with a nationally known pro who is sponsored by Canon, he related that he was offered the use of 1200mm Canon lens but there was no way he was going to be hauling that thing around (it was a nature photog workshop) or be responsible for it (then valued, he said, @ around $80,000 USD).
I disagree with their recommendation of a pan/tilt head. This surely calls for a gimbal head.
