It seems, putting a DS/Katzeye scrren in a K10D (and K20D I suppose, I do not expect any change there) would cure (at least up to a certain point) the metering problems with K/M lenses and provide a situation comparable to D/DS etc bodies.
It also provides microprism if so you chose but it might as well degrade the metering performance with A/F/FA/DA lenses.
