If someone did switch to Pentax, what would your statement make them? In my personal opinion your quality judgements are very simplistic. There are lots of reason for choosing Pentax over Canon, like street photography with compact cameras with good wide angle primes. Canon can ´t beat Pentax in that arena. Try finding something like a K10D with DA21, or anything like a cheap 50mm 1.4 (regardless of FOV) with image stabilization. I know a few well informed photographers who have switched for those reasons. In my humble opinion Canon is lost in oldfashioned technology. Nikon is passing them in the sales numbers.
