Thanks for the responses. I think I may just get the 70 for now and use the FA20-35, the 70, and the FA135 as a basic kit. I've considered the 35 as well since it is such a good price. I know as soon as I get the 31 or the 35 the DA*30 will come out and it will be able to resolve coffee shops on Mars using only psychic emanations. Not that I fret over such things.

It is also a very good lens indeed. However, the 35/f2 is also a very good performer, and is quite a bit cheaper (if still available, which I don't know), perhaps cheaper enough to allow you to decide whether you want the 21 or the 70.
