There certainly was some Tamron-Pentax co-op, the Pentax-FA 28-200 3.8-5.6 was made by Tamron. I ummed and arred over one at a local shop recently. I didn't get it but did some research. The Tamron scored better in most tests than its Pentax brother despite the Pentax SMC coatings... Having said that, I don't know if they still do co-operate now.
