Sure, it's another mid-range zoom. But even back in the film days Pentax offered us a choice of 28-80 and 28-105 zooms.
This looks to be more desirable than the old 28-105 zooms; it's a bit wider (after allowing for sensor size), and constant aperture. But if I got one it wouldn't auto-focus on my *ist-D ...
