Absolutely nothing (much) to do with photography, but there was a
really enjoyable programme on British TV last night about Capt. Sir
Richard Francis Burton, who is one of my all-time great heroes - one
of the most interesting lives ever lived. I'd like to recommend it to
everyone - it's a good introduction to the man. 

The programme is about his fascination with sex, and was wonderfully
presented by Rupert Everett, who bearded bears a good resemblance to
Burton. You can watch it here:

The tenuous link to photography is that I have photographed many of
the places that Burton explored. I took this picture (which I've shown
before) in Bombay's red light district, where Burton learned many
