Hello list. Well, would you believe it, it's almost ten years to the day when I joined this list. I had an LX and wanted to re-cell a NiCad pack for the motor drive. Someone pointed me to Rob Studdert's page and the rest, as they say, is history.
Since that time there's been plenty of water under the bridge. I sold the Pentax film gear, bought into Canon with a D60, adapted some K mount lenses to fit and been called a few names... Everything changes, and all good things must come to an end....with other good things starting up. >From next week I'm putting all my Canon gear up for sale. I've decided to buy into Sony. Actually Sony HD ;) Not stills gear - video. I'm taking precious few stills these days and to be honest, not enjoying it as much as I used to. I feel a change of priorities coming on... And so I will be concentrating more on video production, acquiring some new gear and need to pay for it. I'll have a list of kit up next week and of course will offer to the PDML first, but fear not - the K15/3.5 and the A*85/1.4 in EF mount will not be amongst them. I'm going to hang onto those and in a year or two hope to pick up a used 1Ds mark II full-frame camera. Everything else with Canon on it will be up for sale. I'll keep my rangefinder and three lenses for snaps. I just won't be photographing with a DSLR for a while. I'll keep the website going. If it ain't broke, right... With a bit of luck and a fair wind I can claw back about two and a half grand (GBP) and then I'll be half-way there to funding an HD video camera. Must be something else not nailed down around here I can sell.... Meanwhile, I'll be reducing my input into the territory somewhere below PESO-posting but above lurking. I thought about giving it a rest here, but to be honest, the gene pool here is well above average and the photography one sees displayed is first rate, so I wouldn't like to lose that. Plus I'm still up for any gatherings - UK or elsewhere. Plan on going to GFM as well (my son insists he come along next year). The subscription stands. Besides, I need to be there when my hat really does end up on a plate, not that that will be anytime soon! And so in a time-honoured tradition, from the heart of my bottom, it only remains for me to say: There's a penguin on the telly. (Yes officer, I'll go quietly....) -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche ||=====| http://www.cottysnaps.com _____________________________ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
